last.fm and Audioscrobbler

Okay, I joined Audioscrobbler and now I'm finally able to see why it's the cool thing for music lovers. If you go to www.last.fm and download an Audioscrobbler plugin for your mp3 player of choice you can then see what other people with similar tastes are listening to.

You get to set up a profile and all that stuff, but the neat thing for me is the ability to track the songs that I play the most. Apparently, I really like They Might Be Giants. Iron and Wine is my second favorite, just because I accidentally left the album playing when I fell asleep a few nights ago.

I'm sure this is all a bit of clever listening-habit tracking for marketing purposes, but as long as they don't spam (and they don't), it's fine by me.

Here, go look at my Audioscrobbler profile and you'll see what I mean. You should join and add me as a friend, and then we can spy on each others horrible musical tastes.

You should join the UrbanHonking Group!

We're tracking the top ten chart each week. It's really fun to see music by small group as opposed to a Top 40 of what the radio is being paid to play. :)

Okay! Done. Also, because of your comment I found out that the soapbox derby was today. Hooray for the Internet in all its glory!
