This past week is where I realized that having a job is hard. "No shit," I can hear you say. Yeah, no shit.
I spent most of this week going to sleep a little too late, and my bad sleeping habit has rewarded me with a mild cold. I suppose this illness is also a result of my body failing to adjust to my new work schedule, and of a cold that's being passed around the office.
Yesterday, I had to skip out on a party in east Portland for fear of spreading my plague and/or worsening it. However, taking a day off from social and work activities has really helped and I think I'll be 90 percent ready to take on Monday.
I did manage to fit in a game of soccer on Friday night, along with a pitcher of beer at the Goose Hollow Inn with Pete and Brandon. I asked Brandon, who juggles a job, an internship, and a popular blog, how he deals with his blogging and work schedule.
"It's like taking a really hot bath. You just have to ease yourself into it," he said (and I'm paraphrasing here from memory). "Also, it helps that I blog from work when I'm bored."
I guess I'll have to do the same (except for the blogging from work part because that may be hazardous to my employment), and try to get in a couple of posts per week while my body and mind get comfortable with this whole 9 to 5 thing. By then I'm sure I'll return to full form with my regularly scheduled navel gazing.
Testing.
You are posting from work, I hope?
Congratulations on the new job!
Incidentally, I am putting you on my list.
Yay, vague gets a link back in return!
Does this work? It should.
Hoo-ray!
Huzzah!
