Yesterday, I mentioned that I was coming up to Portland for an interview at a local paper. Unfortunately, it's not for a full time position, but rather an internship. Fortunately, the interview went better than I expected.
I probably won't be very comfortable with discussing work-related stories in this space. One has to consider that Portland isn't very big and remaining anonymous on the web is hard to do (see whois searches). Additionally, because I'm using my real name here, it wouldn't be difficult for employers to find this website and find out I've been blabbing about the inner workings of their paper. Therefore, I'll keep it brief and mention as few details as possible. To summarize, I think the whole interview went well, and the interviewer liked what I had to say about my experience even before looking at my portfolio.
I'm supposed to hear back from the paper by August, so in the meantime I'll probably be looking for part-time work in the Portland area. It'd be good just to have some sort of job even without getting the internship. If I do get it, I'd be working about 20 hours per week at the paper for no pay. Maybe I should talk to DMoe about CD/Game Exchange. Then again, I'm not a big fan of standing for seven hours a day. I'll probably look into temp work, then.
The only downside concerning the whole thing is the commute, which, while not stressful, takes 50 minutes on MAX. There is an upside though; my stop is about a block away from the paper's office.
Okay, that's enough serious work talk for now. We'll return to our regular broadcast about ninjas and the awesome sounds they make. Did you know that ninjas also make an awesome "ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch" sound when they run really fast? Yeah, they do.
Yeah, dude, like the opening sequence for Ninja Gaiden! Ninja Gaiden is without a doubt my favorite NES game, mainly because of the kick ass "cinema" moments in between battles.
Go Ninja Gaiden!
you need to see blues brothers. they aren't ninjas, but the army guys go "HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT HUT"
it's awesome.
Pete, have you played the new Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox? It looks pretty sweet. I'll probably check it out when I move back to my parents' and play around with my brother's Xbox.
I recently sold Ninja Gaiden back to Game Crazy for a copy of the Spiderman 2. The verdict? Not so good. There's no plot to speak of, the cut scenes are banal and the gameplay is irritatingly repetitive. There's no real connection between the old and the new. On the other hand, the graphics are purty.
