For those of you like me, who are cheap frugal and rely on a copy of Norton Anti-virus or McAfee that was acquired through somewhat nefarious means, or for those of you of the risk-taking variety who navigate the polluted waters of the Internet with no virus protection on your computer, there's finally some decent free anti-virus software out there.
AVG Anti-Virus has all the good stuff that you need in anti-virus software like checking programs and documents for viruses when you open them, e-mail scanning, and automatically downloadable updates.
Plus, it's free for personal use. It does take a long time to scan (about an hour for me), so do be prepared to have something else to do while it's doing its job. However, it was worth the wait as it found a few sketchy files hiding in my system folder. Try it out, if you're low on funds like myself.
