I think I'm going to start using Flickr for my photo hosting. Great as the old page is, I get tired of hand-coding HTML very easily. With Flickr I can just upload the photo, add on some comments, and show it off on a webpage that's easy on the eyes.
The downside is that Flickr only allows you to upload 10 megabytes of photos per MONTH. So far, I've uploaded two photos and that cost me 500 K. At this rate, I'll only be able to get 40 photos up a month (unless I reduce the image quality). That's not terribly bad if I took a photo or two a day, but what if I take a bunch of photos at a party or some other shindig? If I upgrade to a pro account, I get 1 gig of upload bandwidth a month and unlimited storage space, which is quite nice. I would have to cough up $3.50 a month to do that. For a price of a decent mocha, it may not be a bad deal.
I'll see how this goes, and then we'll see if upgrading is necessary.
I thought about using the same site to host the 3 billion photos I took overseas. $3.50 might just be worth since HTML'ing it is such a hassle.
I paid for it…and love it… it's super addictive. I just have nightmares that I won't know what to do when I decide to stop paying for it. do you pay 40 dollars/year for the rest of your life…or what comes next? For now– It's absolutely lovely.
Yeah, that's the same thing I wonder about this website. I love my domain name and I like having a presence on the web, so do I want to spend money on it for the rest of my life? Heck, probably.
So far I'm liking Flickr. I'm going to play around on it some more until I decide whether or not to pay for the pro account.
