Firefod 1.0 came out today. If you're a Firefox user, I suggest you go pick up the update. If you're still using Internet Explorer, I suggest you switch.
Built-in pop up blocker, tabbed browsing, and hundreds of useful plugins make this browser the best that's out there. Also it's open-source software, so it's got a great community of users and developers around it.
So much spyware and viruses are spread through Internet Explorer and Microsoft seems to be pretty slow to respond to these problems. Mozilla, because it is solely committed to Firefox, is quick to fix these issues.
Make the switch. Do it.
But is there really any difference between the new version and the beta ones?
There's some improvements to the tabbed browsing, such as opening links from other programs will make them appear in new tabs, rather than a new window or the window that you were just viewing.
There are a lot of bug fixes and better security. Also they promised that the mixed up favicon in bookmarks should be fixed. But right now Blog still has the OC icon in my bookmarks. Hopefully that will be fixed when I clean out my browser's cache.
So far, it's not a huge improvement for people who have the later releases of Firefox, but at least it isn't an unimprovement.
Laziness beats 30 seconds of effort, once again. I'll stick with the old version.
