I wonder: do San Francisco-ites ride the cable cars or is it just tourists? And do they run in the winter? Seems like it would just be a spring/summer thing.
You would think so, but I saw at least one cable car rider who seemed to be from the area. She was carrying some take-out dinner and chatting on a cell phone. She wasn't paying any attention to anything outside the cable car. It seemed like pretty non-touristy behavior to me.
I'm pretty sure they run all year.
