Photos from Beulahland

My friends Dan and Jim hosted a "Singles Dance Party" this past Wednesday at Beulahland, deep in the Laurelhurst neighborhood of East Portland. I think it's pretty safe to say it was a success.

Several friends of the two DJs showed up, filling up the small, but intimate, dance floor. The guys played a mix of dance and house music, along with a bit of crowd-pleasing hip-hop. Credit has to be given to Shannon for getting me to put down my camera and join everyone on the dance floor for at least a few songs.

Check out the photos at my newly updated photo page. I'm using Google's Picasa to do some cookie-cutter HTML because I'm tired of hand-coding all the time. Hand-coding was also a real deterrent to getting any new photos up (well, that and the death of my old camera). In the meantime, Flickr will be the repository for random new photos (although there are a few select photos from the dance party there too).

My friend Judah is in the middle of the flash picture — out of the 5 people I know in Portland, two were at the same party? How small is the hipster scene there, anyway??

I think that, as a whole, Portland's hipster scene is pretty big, but it just so happens that most of the people at this particular party have lived in Eugene at one time or another. I take it that you know Judah from Eugene?

Yeah, since about the first week of freshman year. He's on MySpace, too, so I guess it's not that unexpected that he'd be there. It was still a surprise, though! :)

Yeah, first it won't post either of my message, then I try to remember what I wrote and it posts both. I hate you, Movable Type.

Heh, got your message on MySpace too.

Anyway, my server was acting a little weird this morning so that could have been the problem. Or it could be Movable Type. Hopefully, the wonkiness will fade away today.

Yeah, you've caught me — getting unimportant messages to you is far more important than listening to a contracts lecture any day of the week!
